View Full Version : I just don't understand her...

Hi, this is my first post, but here goes...

Over the last few weeks, my sister has been acting a little strangely, and I want to know if it looks like some temporary anxiety or something I should be worried about.

First: she's about college age, no real problems in the past. No health problems that I know of.

Anyway, lately I've noticed weird habits. She's always been a little O-C, but lately it's getting more exaggerated, like she's staying up later and going to greater lengths to do these repetitive actions like reset the alarm clock or close the door. She's also been just sitting and staring at the wall, into space, or picking at her nails for about an hour at a time, and it's pretty difficult to break her out of it. Eventually she stops doing it and gets to studying or working, but the time span before she does this is getting longer. I suspect that she does this when I'm not looking too. I've asked her what she's doing, and she just says that she's thinking, but then refuses to tell me what about, sometimes in a hostile sort of way. This has been going on for about 2-3 months or so.

Now, you should also know that it's about time for finals, which I thought might just be making her stressed, but this has been going on too long and her grades have actually been improving since it started (though this just makes me worry even more). Again, I suppose it could just be due to stress or winter depression (our family has a history of mental illness, but not any signs that she's showing), but I wanted to get someone else's opinion in case there's something more to it.

Thanks
