Heart Disease

According to the Mayo Clinic, moderate alcohol intake may reduce your overall risk of heart disease and decrease your chances of dying from a heart attack. It is believed that alcohol may prevent heart disease by reducing calcification of the arteries.

Stroke

Alcohol may also lower your risk for stroke when consumed in moderate amounts. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has found that alcohol has anti-clotting properties that may prevent clots in the blood vessels.

HDL Cholesterol

Alcohol, and particularly red wine, has been linked to an increase in HDL cholesterol and a reduction in LDL cholesterol, according to the Mayo Clinic. Some researchers believe that the resveratrol in red wine causes a reduction in LDL cholesterol.

Gallstones

Moderate alcohol consumption may also prevent gallstones from forming, according to the results of the 2003 Nurse's Health Study. However, excessive alcohol intake may contribute to gallstones, so researchers still need to determine the precise relationship.

Diabetes

A study conducted at Harvard Medical School found that moderate alcohol intake--regardless of the type of alcohol--was associated with a reduced risk of type 2 diabetes. More research is needed, however, to draw firm conclusions.

Hello
Alcohol is sometimes a stigma in this society. Because there are so many alcohol-related deaths (either from driving accidents, illness, or even violence), many people still frown upon its consumption. But alcohol consumption has a few benefits, which some may not have considered.

RELAXING QUALITY - Honestly, one of the main reasons people drink, is because of its relaxing qualities. In small quantities, alcohol may allow people to wind down, and become more physically comfortable.

HEALTH BENEFIT - Believe it or not, some doctors have advised having one glass of red wine a day to help prevent heart disease. The alcohol thins the blood slightly, preventing clotting which may lead to health issues.

ECONOMICS - Since the end of Prohibition, the production of alcohol has helped to fuel the economy on a worldwide level. Without the legal production of alcohol, many people would be without work. Many different kinds of industries would begin to fail.

Alcohol certainly does have many negative effects. But these negative effects are only really serious with the OVERUSE of alcohol. Drinking responsibly, and in moderation, (in a perfect society) should have virtually no negative effects whatsoever

There are positive affects of moderate alcohol use, but the negative consequences far outweigh the positive.

For the people who are able to drink in moderate amounts, then good for them. However, many people can't and suffer much from drinking.

They have proven that a glass of red wine a day is good for your heart, but many people can't stop at a glass.

Bottom line: alcohol is a crutch. People depend far too heavily upon it in our society. Many people would do good to quit drinking altogether, their mental health would improve.

and improves our chances of getting the OTHER form of stress relief we need.
Stress is the real killer.
And the best stress relief is still free...

-It is a brain depressant, so hesitation, caution, self-criticism & restraint are lost.
As a result, anxiety is allayed, mood and feelings are altered.

- It increases intrinsic adrenaline release within your body & activates you.

-After a hard day's work, a drink will dilute your bodily fatigue.
