Myself and three friends are hoping to take part in the Drambuie Pursuit this May – in aid of MIND: the mental health charity – but we need your help!
The Drambuie Pursuit is a test of extreme physical and mental endurance. Five teams, voted for by the public, will battle it out in the Scottish Highlands to be crowned Drambuie Pursuit Champion. The teams will complete a series of 9 adrenalin-fuelled stages from running, climbing and abseiling to downhill mountain-biking, and from rafting to buggy and speedboat-racing. But competing as one of the teams in this epic challenge is not the only goal; this year the team with the most votes will win £2500 for their chosen charity.
We - the CYCLO-THERAPISTS - have chosen MIND as our nominated charity, and they are happy to back us.
We have all seen the effects of mental illness on people close to us. We are in an ever changing world and something that also needs to change with that is peoples’ attitudes towards mental health. No health issue should be taboo, least of all a mental health issue. Personally, we have all discovered that exercise helps us feel better in body AND mind.
To be eligible to compete in the Pursuit, the Cyclo-Therapists need your support!! After just one week we have been able to rally support from over 300 people through our facebook and twitter pages, but to be the team with the most number of votes, and therefore secure a £2500 donation for MIND, we need more than 3000 votes.
