hi, i have a brother that who had health type delusions 16 months ago. he was put on effexor xl150mgs per day and seroqual xr 600mg. He improved dramatically but a few months ago , delusions started returning with accompanying panic attacks. There may have been a period of days/weeks when he may have not been taking medication but we're not 100% sure. Anyway, he'll pulled through that period and has been doing fine since which has been 2 months ish. But in the last few days there have been signs that all is not 100% well.
He had definately been taking his medication since so it looks very dissappointing. And I know the advice will be to get him back to get his meds checked asap but its not that simple with him as he's an unwilling patient. I was just interested in has anyone any experience of medication losing its effect and any thoughts of the medication he's on? Is it a very strong dose and are they a medication that are likely to loose their effect over time?
Many thanks.

I am new to this so if you get this fine if not I will try again. As for the meds, I have been on the effexor but didn't work. The other only have heard you want to eat all the time. I am 56 and have been fighting this for over 30 years. How old is your brother? I was told by my dr that some people have metabolism that uses up the meds faster. I have no idea. I seem to do best with the zoloft, cymbalta family but have always had problems with them wearing off. Increasing all the time and I really believe that taking my xanax with the dep. meds helps. Its a long story and know you are busy if you want to visit do write back and we can talk. Do you talk with his dr? My prayers are with you. I am the only one in the family like this, how about him? Take care.

Hi ravenette,
Since I've posted this he seems to be back to himself which is what happened a few months ago.Maybe he has some kind of mini depressive cycles going on where he gets worse for a few days occasionally and then regains his balance.Either way,I'm just glad things have leveled out again. My brother is about 34 and I have another brother with slight problems but hes not on meds and he seems to be dealing with life ok.
I know a girl with schizophrenia for 20+ years on another forum I hang out at. She said she had tried virtually every bach flower remedy except cerato until 1 1/2 months ago. I talked to her earlier and she said she feels it is helping her.
" The Bach Flower remedies work slowly and gradually. Some people need to take them for 6 months or so. My illness has been with me for over 20 years so it is very ingrained in my system. But the Cerato is proving to heal the symptoms, but slowly. I do recommend it. But it needs to be given a decent try to work.
I take Depixol (flupenthixol) and Amisulpride."
I have never mentioned it to my brother (or at least not yet)as he would just stop using his meds and end up in hospital and I certainly don't mean to get your hopes up or anyone elses. I do think though that natural cures are totally underutilized in todays society and if I had a problem like my brothers I would at least talk to a homeopathic doctor to see could I trial something with my meds. I also do apologize in a sense for posting this...if it was to give false hope or anything. But I just thought her findings were interesting and thought it best to share. Thank you for your kind words today and I will pray for you also.
