Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, commonly abbreviated to PTSD, is a disorder caused by traumatic events including those that threatened or caused physical harm.

I have never in my life considered going into combat. Joining the army wouldn't be likely, but if I did take this course of action, I would do my best to stay where I always want to be: right in front of a computer.

My question is: is PTSD avoidable? Are people that have returned from war, after taking part in many active combat situations, ever able to recover from this?

Everyone can suffer PTSD but some people are more vulnerable to the condition than others. I think you can reduce the chance of having PTSD, IMO. If you don't go to the war zone, you will be less likely to have the condition but it can be triggered by other things like natural disasters etc...

People with PTSD do recover well with proper treatment and management.

I never knew this!
So you can get infected if you go to the war zone.
My question is, what if your high above ground in a helicopter?
Will it effect you, or can it not reach that far abouve ground level.

Ermm... Did you even bother reading the above post? To awnser your question. Yes, it can (affect) you even if your above ground level, becuase it's not an illnes that you catch from someone per say like a cold or something. I'm going to go ahead and thank god I don't have to go to military, as they have cut the mandatory military service. I can't imagen what people must go through when engaged in a war.

I think PTSD or Post traumatic stress disorder is war zone prone. If that person has bad memories of that place, he might get mentally upset due to that. Well wishers should keep that person away from that zone.

Getting upset isn't really a phobia...is it?
Of course you will get upset, if you forexample sometimes visit your parents grave. But i really dont think its a phobia.
