I am writing a paper on eating disorders for my health class. One of the questions I would like to answer on my paper is how much weight will a person lose if they eat normal & then go a day without eating.
I've searched the internet but can't find a thing.

I very much appreciate your eagerness to answer this specific question from this paper, but did you realize is this a mental health problem, for which this forum is ? Anyway, regarding your question, it should depend on the person's weight how much his weight reduces. A fat man may not reduce much, a skinny man might reduce a lot.

:) Funny question. Mate, if you eat normal and when go day without any food and when you go eat normal again - you won't loose any weight, you'll get it.

Not without reason doctors are saying that you should start eat just for a little after taking diet.

I agree. Not eating for one day could possibly cause you to lose MAYBE a couple of pounds, but then again I even doubt that. I'm sure that it is not healthy, but you most likely would not lose weight.

Dysphagia is the medical term for difficulty swallowing, or the feeling that food is "sticking" in your throat or chest. The feeling is actually in your esophagus, the tube that carries food from your mouth to your stomach. You may experience dysphagia when swallowing solid foods, liquids, or both.

Hi

An eating disorder is marked by extremes. It is present when a person experiences severe disturbances in eating behavior, such as extreme reduction of food intake or extreme overeating, or feelings of extreme distress or concern about body weight or shape.

thanks

Hi
One trait of sufferers seems to be a lack of self-esteem. Bulimia nervosa, Bulimia nervosa, usually shortened to bulimia, is a disorder where individuals have a binge-eating session; this is usually then followed by them making themselves sick. This self-induced vomiting is because of feelings of guilt at having eaten so much. People with bulimia tend to suffer from an unnatural preoccupation with their own body, and as with anorexic patients they have a fear of gaining weight.

For most people, the holiday season is a wonderful time of year. It is often a time of family reunion, socializing, and celebration - a time when families, friends, and coworkers come together to share good will and good food. The season is meant to be bright, happy, and full of the best of relationships. Yet, for those who suffer with eating disorders, this is often the worst time of the year. For those who are trapped in the private hell of anorexia, bulimia, or binge eating disorder, the Holidays often magnify their personal struggles, causing them great internal pain and turmoil. At Center for Change, we have asked many patients over the years to share from their private experiences what the Holidays have been like during the years they suffered with an eating disorder. The women quoted in this article are of different ages, but all suffered with the illness for many years. As you read the following passages you will feel something of the agony of suffering with an eating disorder at this festive time of year.

Eating disorders are serious behavior problexia nervosa, in which you become too thin, but you don't eat enough because you think you are fat,Bulimia nervosa, involving periods of overeating followed by purging, sometimes through self-induced vomiting or using laxatives,Binge-eating, which is out-of-control eating,When most people hear of someone with an eating disorder they almost automatically assume the person has a problem with foodating disorders are not a sign that a person has a problem with food, rather eating disorders are actually only the symptoms of underlying problems in that person's life,With proper treatment, people can fully recover.

i use to be anemic when i was like 14...i had weighed 115...but after 3months of being sick, i went don to 80 pounds...they had to put me in the hospital because i was really weak. i could eat a cookie and i'd be full, so they had to feed me through an iv. if u have an eating disorder you wont realize how much weight your losing until some months after, when u realize how sick u are. i hope this helps a little...

Many kids — particularly teens — are concerned about how they look and can feel self-conscious about their bodies. This can be especially true when they are going through puberty, and undergo dramatic physical changes and face new social pressures.
