I was diagnosed with bipolar about a year and a half ago.

At the time I was starting a new community college, and having a tough time. I started experiencing some voices, delusions, and troubled thoughts.

I visited a psychiatrist and started taking Seroquel, ranging in doses from 50-300mg, until now, at an even 200mg a day.

The medicine did help somewhat, but it also made me gain weight and lose control of my emotions. Mostly I just became apathetic, however for the past half year I've suffered from mood swings.

I tried different medicines, each with unfavorable side effects, only to come back to Seroquel. From personal experience and from what the doctors / others say online, I don't want to try any other types of medicine. From firsthand experience with cannabis, I would like to start taking it medicinally (I live in California)

I've learned to somewhat control my disorder, with the mentality that I need to live with it, not fight it. I can never cure it, unless as miracle medicine is released sometime in my lifetime, which I doubt.

I've learned to calm myself down when I become enraged (my biggest problem) and I now have an idea of what I want to do with my life.

Through talking with family and doctors, it's unclear whether or not medicinal marijuana would work. From looking online, it seems like reviews are mixed.

I feel as it would help, as it helped me while taking the medicine. However, I no longer want to combine the two, which is irresponsible. I would like to stop taking chemical medicine and switch to this, but the future would be uncertain.

So, I come here looking for information, be-it scientific studies, or first hand experience.

Thank you for any information any of you can offer.
