Hi All,
Just some comments, questions. I took my son to his pschstrst.
he recently began seeing because he has anxiety and in the
past p/a. As I sat in the room I was impressed with drs. intelligent
questions and assessment of my sons thought process and
condition - he is doing better. He is an excellent student and
athlete.
He mentioned CBT and the fact that he would benefit from
this and the fact that many people dont understand how
they think - they just react. He mentioned other things such
as controlling your mental state through your physical body,
breathing and other helpful suggestions. He is going to find
a CBT tpst for him.
What struck me was the stark difference in the effective way
he worked withn my son and the time I spent with my last
tpst.
My point is there is no comparison and for the first time I
see how this can be helpful. I believe I would be of benefit
from this and I thought of asking him but feel funny since
he is my sons dr. One of the things he said to my son rang
so true to me: how some people are always judging their
thoughts and putting pressure on themselves which is so
much the way I think! I know this but yet still do it - although
less.
I very much want to get more "mentally fit" before I get old -
the same way I try to be physically fit. The last dr. just
said just dont think like that - what a joke.
Any advice about asking my sons dr for my own referral
- I do not share my own issues with my son as not to
feed into his own deal - but I help him out always, as much
possible. Also regarding what I said before about how I
think and judging and pressuring myself can anyone relate
to this and recommend an online cbt dealing to this?
