people what do you suggest brings out a better individuallity in an adolescent :

is it :
a) disciplining
b)being friends with them
c)giving them freedom do think , do whatever they like
d)balance of discipline and freedom

well i would suggest to give them the freedom of doing their tasks theirself....no stupid interference should be there....parents can keep check on their students but they shouldn't disagree with them...so mehow they were children at some time...

i think the best way to deal with this situation is to being like a friend of them...this would definitely give them a lot of confidence and they will feel proud that their parents discuss with them about their life and future....

i totally agree with luv007..in this age, parent should try to win their children as a friend..children like it when they can talk to their parents as a friend rather than parents..this type of bonding brings them close and they can know each other like they never did..
also parents should be supportive and caring at the same time..they should encourage them to do what CHILD loves rather than what THEY love..

Disciple with limited freedom can do wonders :) It'll really benefit the child when he comes to his adolescence period. Excess of freedom will make the person really selfish and he/she won't care for his/her relatives.
