medications only work for a short time

I am rapid cycling Bipolar 2 and have been on a roller coaster lately. I have been dianosed and treated for at least 10 years, with many different meds and combos, and the meds wil work, but after about 3-4 months, they don't work and I have to switch up again. Does anyone else have this problem - of the meds only working for a short time? I don't know if I'm treatment resistant or what.
