Clinical Depression is more serious, triggered by a chemical imbalance in the brain. This is a biological disorder of the brain, but it has psychological symptoms. This type of depression need not follow any sad, stressful or upsetting event; it can kick in for no apparent reason at all other than a change in one’s brain chemicals

i think clinical depression is caused due to the intake of some drugs...as it imbalances the quantity of content that is present in our body...so we must avoid the use of drugs that gives birth to such depression....

Clinical depression or depressive disorder is an illness that involves the body, mood, and thoughts. It affects the way a person eats and sleeps, the way one feels about oneself, and the way one thinks about things. A depressive disorder is not the same as feeling “down” or “blue.” It is not a “bad mood” or a condition that can be willed or wished away. People with a depressive illness cannot merely "pull themselves together" and get better. Without treatment, symptoms of clinical depression can last for weeks, months, or years. Appropriate treatment for clinical depression, however, can help most people who suffer from clinical depression. The exact cause of clinical depression is not clear. Sometimes, a stressful event can cause one to feel depressed. Sometimes it seems to happen for no reason at all.

Hello Friends........

Clinical depression affects about 16% of the population and occurs among people of all races and socioeconomic backgrounds. Most cases are first diagnosed during the patient’s 20s, although clinical depression does occur among teens as well as older adults. More women than men are diagnosed with clinical depression, but some researchers believe this may simply be attributed to the fact that women are more likely to seek treatment for their condition.

Thanks

Clinical depression is a serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. Individuals with clinical depression are unable to function as they used to. Often they have lost interest in activities that were once enjoyable to them, and feel sad and hopeless for extended periods of time. Clinical depression is not the same as feeling sad or depressed for a few days and then feeling better. It can affect your body, mood, thoughts, and behavior. It can change your eating habits, how you feel and think, your ability to work and study, and how you interact with people. People who suffer from clinical depression often report that they "don't feel like themselves anymore."

When we refer to depression in the following pages, we are talking about "clinical depression." Clinical depression is a serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. Individuals with clinical depression are unable to function as they used to. Often they have lost interest in activities that were once enjoyable to them, and feel sad and hopeless for extended periods of time. Clinical depression is not a sign of personal weakness, or a condition that can be willed away. Clinically depressed people cannot "pull themselves together" and get better. In fact, clinical depression often interferes with a person's ability or wish to get help. Clinical depression is a serious illness that lasts for weeks, months and sometimes years. It may even influence someone to contemplate or attempt suicide.

Clinical depression is not just grief or feeling sad. It is an illness that can challenge your ability to perform even routine daily activities.

Clinical depression is any depression that lasts longer than 2 weeks. Read the DSM criteria for a major depressive episode aka clinical depression. That means that reactive depression can turn into clinical depression including the chemical imbalance. While there may be something to be said about a genetic link to depression, we don't really know at this point. There is no such thing as strictly genetic/biological depression. All depression is psychological in nature.

Clinical depression is a serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. Depression and anxiety are two sides of the same coin, generally speaking.
