Drugs are mainly taken by young children & teens. They are very injurious to our health & it is very difficult to get released out of its clutches if caught once. It becomes a regular cycle for you to take twice every 3 days. The parents must keep an eye on their children & his friends group. It basically starts from friends circle that becomes their necessity. Talk to them about the demerit of drugs & explain them the causes of it. Also encourage drugs awareness programs in the society.

Its not at all good for children who use drugs and can have lot of health issues.

The best thing is to Encourage children to become involved in sports, clubs, music lessons, church and other after-school activities can keep children and teens active.

well its a very good topic....children use to take drugs in their school or college days...they use to take it as a stress removing drug..well drugs should be banned globally so that students in their peak time can do some better work rather than taking drugs.......

Even if you took all the drugs away, people would still find a way to get high. That's just a part of being human,
that you want to go somewhere else besides your regular mind. You want to escape from your realities. People
are going to find--they're going to sniff Lysol or Drano or something--they're going to find a way, so it doesn't
matter if you take the drugs away. People will spin around till they get sick so they have some kind of highs just so they escape reality.

But whatever it is I really don't recommend drugs it is very harmful to our
body

Yeah friend you are absolutely right. This is today hot debate topic. Accordign to a news source there were an estimated 708,000 new inhalant drugs users in 1997, up from 332,000 in 1989.

1:- The rate of first use among youths age 12-17 rose significantly from 1989 to 1995.

2:-From 8.4 to 18.8 per 1,000 potential new users, and remained level after that. For young adults age 18-25, there was an increase in the rate of first use between 1989 and 1996.

The statistic shows horrible record of teenager that are involve in such type of addiction.

Psychoeducation is important and it would be done at schools by increasing awareness of side effects of illicit drugs. Parents could also be informed about the long term ill effects of the illicit drugs so that they could in turn educate their children regarding this.

Children may use drugs for relieving their stress. They may see it as a possible solution to reduce mental stress such as examination stress; stress caused by major upcoming events or even personal relationships. Drug abuse starts as a quick fix for agitated nerves. They are seen as a way to calm down, to forget your worries and try to analyze complex problems that are impossible to solve on jittery nerves.

Children may succumb to drugs also as a means to relieve physical stress. This is true in the case of analgesics where children may be left with a craving for the chemical even after the physical pain vanishes.

Hello
Communicate your values about drugs and alcohol to your children. It will give them a set of guidelines to help them make healthy decisions. Here are five quick pointers for bringing up the subject.

1. Begin your discussions about drugs and alcohol long before the teenage years.

2. Don't mount a personal attack, deliver a sermon, or convene a family conference to open a dialogue on a tough subject.

3. Instead of taking the "big talk" approach, look for opportunities in everyday conversation to develop a dialogue with your kids.

4. You can't stop your teenager from being curious about drugs and alcohol, and you can't shield her from the social pressure to use them. But you can encourage her self-worth, give her the hard facts, establish firm limits, and keep the lines of "communication without condemnation" open.

5. Don't just preach it — live it! Serve as your own example of your beliefs and values concerning drugs and alcohol.

Inhaling chemicals can cause a quick, powerful high similar to the effects of drinking alcohol, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. The symptoms are short-lived, so abusers often use the chemicals repeatedly to maintain their high.

This is no benign high. Inhalants are more likely to lead to cocaine and heroin addiction than marijuana, and they cause seizures, asphyxiation, comas, heart failure and death.

It’s never too early to start talking to your kids about the dangers of drugs. Even if they aren’t huffing, as inhalant use is called among kids, they probably know someone who is, and you never know when they might be tempted to try it themselves.

How old are you speak of children with drugs and alcohol. My son is 9 and has returned home saying that his friend said the parents smoke pot. I really do not know how to react. I told him it was wrong. We really do not go there any more. Im wondering where he was to sit down and talk with him of the effects these things can really be in your life.

Parents know their children best and are therefore in the best position to suggest healthy alternatives to doing drugs. Encouraging children to become involved in sports, clubs, music lessons, community service projects, church, and other after-school activities can keep children and teens active and interested, while building their confidence and interpersonal skills. These activities will also bring youth closer to parents and to other adults and peers who can influence them in positive ways.

well, i think getting addicted at very younger age is caused by the loneliness of the child.
And they also learns it from their elders. if someone wants to stop this first they have to stop these bad habits from the elder people by seeing them they (children) they will also try to get rid from these bad habits.

Parents must keep in touch with the children & look after their any problem. The children must be given only the drugs prescribed by the doctor only, because it will be more beneficial in their case.
Of course children are more sensitive & so they might get side effects of the medicines. This care has to be taken by the parents or the guardians of the children.
