In my point of view Depression is a type of psychiatric disorder which affects too many aspects of our lives. It can be termed as a part of extreme feeling of dejection and sadness.
Symptoms of depression include low self-esteem coupled with lack of confidence, inability to concentrate and sleep disorders.
I believe Depression can be cured, but not by pills and medication. you need to balance work with relaxing or leisure activities and work on your problems to reach an answer.

depression is:
a mental state characterized by a pessimistic sense of inadequacy and a despondent lack of activity
a long-term economic state characterized by unemployment and low prices and low levels of trade and investment
natural depression: a sunken or depressed geological formation
sad feelings of gloom and inadequacy
a period during the 1930s when there was a worldwide economic depression and mass unemployment
low: an air mass of lower pressure; often brings precipitation; "a low moved in over night bringing sleet and snow"
depressive disorder: a state of depression and anhedonia so severe as to require clinical intervention

Depression is a type of psychiatric ataxia which affects too abounding aspects of our lives. It can be termed as a allotment of acute activity of dejection and sadness. Unfortunately, it is the a lot of blurred affliction in our society. Depression after-effects out of a array of affidavit and no individual could cause can be attributed.
Depression is not something you can see. Not even trained professionals can always correctly diagnose somebody who is clinically depressed. What makes this condition even more difficult to diagnose is the misconception of what causes depression.

Depression is actually a mental disorder where there is some amount of abnormality in your brain functions. It is also supplemented or it starts with Mood swings or something called as Bipolar Disorder. It can differ from person to person and medication should be taken for that. Yoga and meditation is the BEST way to get rid of it to the core. It’s a fact. Do it... :)

Depression is more than just a low mood - it's a serious illness. While we all feel sad, moody or low from time to time. It is one of the most common of all mental health problems. Jogging, tried dieting, changed relationships, tried to think positively is best way to get it rid .

Hi vivekagrawal57,
Depression is a mental disorder in which the patient feels low mood, sadness, lack of energy, feeling of worthlessness, guilt and at times, suicidal thinking. Now you should understand how you can help you uncle...first of all, a correct diagnosis is of prime importance because once we know what is the exact problem only then the right treatment can be started...if the treatment is delayed, it only increases worried for the patient and the family...If it is really depression and fulfills the criteria for its diagnosis then initiation of antidepressant therapy should be considered. There is a difference between sleep pills and anti depressants. Antidepressants correct the chemical balance in the brain which controls mood...due to disturbances in the serotonin levels in the brain the symptoms of depression occur. Alternative treatment is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I hope and pray that your uncle overcomes this problem.

it is not a mental disorder... it is an extreme feeling of getting into loneliness and gloominess, making yourself idle and keep thinking that you are worthless in this world and feel nothing good happens in your life. it is better to consult a GP first.

well bipolar disorder has two types mainly, the bipolar I disorder and the bipolar II disorder....It is the bipolar II disorder which can be misdiagnosed as unipolar depression because there is hypomania and not mania..need to consider this as well.

Depression is a mental disorder and it has specific diagnostic criteria, when we are sad and low mood, we cannot classify it as depression. That is a state of mind, an emotion but when the things go beyond the range of normality then they are pathological and become a disease. These negative thoughts have some origin, so reason, so that reason need to be corrected through medical intervention and the patient feels better.
