I had this question in mind for ages but at last I can find some place to share it. Do you think parents should keep a check on what kind of friends we grow up and talk with? Is that a good notion or is it kind of unnecessary interference ?? What do you think?

Well the company that the children is involved in matters a lot...A single sinner sinks the boat....so we should try to keep a good company so that they can get a bright future..........

I certainly believe that parents must keep an eye on their children friends or the group they have.Because he can become a bad human being by involving with the bad company.Parents need to keep a bird eye on their friends company because he can become a criminal or find himself in trouble and no one to help him.The friends influence our life a lot.So select a good company of friends.

Well...studies have shown that during childhood and adolescence parents are still the main influential force (amazing huh? i didn't think so).
So i think you can keep track of your child's friends as long as it doesn't become too controlling. Children do tend to act like their friends but if the parents support and talk to the child a moral code will develop and the child will eventually identify that the friend is not acting "nice".
At least this is what i experienced with my little brother, he was surrounded of "not-so-nice" influence and he gave us a hard time for a while but eventually (after much talking) he changed.

I think you can be involved and have some supervision without being controlling.
