Many factors such as job stress, strained family relationships or sometimes stress from 'midlife transitions' plunge men into depression.

Symptoms such as intense sadness, loss of interest or pleasure in normal activities, sleep disturbances or oversleeping, change in appetite and decreased energy level; feelings of helplessness and thoughts of suicide are sequels to stress induced depression.

Depression varies from person to person, but there are some common signs and symptoms. It’s important to remember that these symptoms can be part of life’s normal lows. But the more symptoms you have, the stronger they are, and the longer they’ve lasted—the more likely it is that you’re dealing with depression. When these symptoms are overwhelming and disabling, that's when it's time to seek help.
Common signs and symptoms of depression

* Feelings of helplessness and hopelessness. A bleak outlook—nothing will ever get better and there’s nothing you can do to improve your situation.
* Loss of interest in daily activities. No interest in former hobbies, pastimes, social activities, or sex. You’ve lost your ability to feel joy and pleasure.
* Appetite or weight changes. Significant weight loss or weight gain—a change of more than 5% of body weight in a month.
* Sleep changes. Either insomnia, especially waking in the early hours of the morning, or oversleeping (also known as hypersomnia).
* Irritability or restlessness. Feeling agitated, restless, or on edge. Your tolerance level is low; everything and everyone gets on your nerves.
* Loss of energy. Feeling fatigued, sluggish, and physically drained. Your whole body may feel heavy, and even small tasks are exhausting or take longer to complete.
* Self-loathing. Strong feelings of worthlessness or guilt. You harshly criticize yourself for perceived faults and mistakes.
* Concentration problems. Trouble focusing, making decisions, or remembering things.
* Unexplained aches and pains. An increase in physical complaints such as headaches, back pain, aching muscles, and stomach pain.

Hi,
Many of the symptoms associated with depression fall into a category that we would expect: emotional. One of these symptoms is a loss of interest in things you used to love doing. Whether you loved hiking, fishing, knitting or anything else, you will find that you no longer what to partake in your beloved activity. You might also find that you simply want to spend all of your time alone rather than with your family and friends. Feelings of extreme guilt are also a symptoms. You could feel as though everything is your fault even when it is clearly not.

Difficulty in decision-making, lack of energy, loss of interest in normal pleasurable activities, poor sleep and appetite, irritation and frustration are some of the symptoms that arise from biological depression. The thinking pattern of a person helps him accept or avoid a stress situation. If one shows disposition towards anxiety, worry, restlessness, anger and tension as stress responses, it can lead him to chronic emotional turbulence.

Desyrel doesn't replace Effexor. They work differently. Desyrel affects serotonin and Effexor affects serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine. Because of it's side benefit of helping with sleep, Desyrel can be added, such as adding Desyrel with Prozac. It's not a problem.

Hi

Depressive disorders have been with mankind since the beginning of recorded history. In the Bible, King David, as well as Job, suffered from this affliction. Hippocrates referred to depression as melancholia, which literally means black bile. Black bile, along with blood, phlegm, and yellow bile were the four humors (fluids) that described the basic medical physiology theory of that time.

I have suffered from depression since I was 13 years old and I am now 21 and my life is getting better but when I do start feeling more depressed, like wanting to sleep more, crying, irritability, sadness or even when I get suicidal thoughts, I know that I need time for myself. I do something that I enjoy. I read a book or a magazine. Going for walks helps me a lot, it is just nice to go out for fresh air and it feels good. Or I go to the movies or I rent a movie and eat chips and enjoy the movie. Try and find something that you enjoy. I love taking a hot bath, it's relaxing. Find what makes you happy and it'll help. Good luck

In my view depression is rather a common definition of the gradual accumulation of tiredness, stresses, failures, mentally adverse conditions and alike. Put together for a while the above developments acquire a new quality influencing mental health.

All initial causes are closely linked with the evident losses and deficite of vital energies that result in the inability of our natural protection infrastructure to support sound health. Exhausted, energy-hungry our natural inner processor fails to attend to all the needs of the body and soul.

There are many ways to restore the energy supply and circulation that will allow your inner doctor to resume natural control over all processes, systems and organs without drugs and extra expenses.

Depressed people may lose interest in activities that once were pleasurable, or suffer cognitive impairments (e.g., difficulty concentrating, remembering details, making decisions). They may contemplate or attempt suicide. Their weight may change dramatically. Symptoms of depression are the symptoms of the shortage of energy. Have you ever seen an energetic person in a depressed state ? It is nonsense ! As a rule energetic people are incompatible with depression.

Today every minute we all loose energies and our energy systems are getting deteriorated. Unfortunately, orthodox medicine almost entirely ignores the existense and fuctioning of the energy system that is fundamental to cardiovascular, nerve, immune, digestive and all other systems.

Anyone can provide sufficient supply of energy and tune the energy system to drive away the depression and many other health problems. Suffice to start doing the Eye of Revelation by Peter Kelder and tube the energy system. Alternatively you can read more in my blog at http://iiird_wind.livejournal.com and use my adaptation - the Third Wind.

Energies & Good Luck to all.

Depression means to feel sad. A person may show markedly diminished interest or pleasure in all, or almost all, daily activities. Most times people tend to ignore signs of depression. In some cases over-eating is also a sign of depression. Depression can also be having a feeling of impending doom.
