Professor and pediatrician, Dimitri Christakis claims that when children under the age of two watch television it can cause more harm that it does good. It could be the cause of over stimulation in the child's brain because of the televisions flashing lights, rapid screen changes, etc. Studies have been done, and Professor and pediatrician, Dimitri Christakis has not found how television can help a child under twos development.

Idiot box has always caused problems to the children from its own existence.I also support the opinion put forward by the scientist that the children under two years. The harmful radiations coming out of the tv tube are very harmful to the small children and cause severe problems. The eyes can get damage at young age and can lead to blindness. So small children should maintain a distance from the tv.

Hi

There are also some TV programmes which help children understand the importance of proper nutrition, health and exercise. Apart from that, children also learn a lot of things which are helpful in their academic and future life. They can also watch quiz contests which increase their general knowledge. Parents should motivate their child to take part in such quiz contests on TV. Some TV programmes also provide opportunity to prove child’s talent in dance, acting, painting, win scholarships etc; which can prove beneficial for child. However, parents should not force children to watch such shows if their child is not interested.

thanks

As we all are aware that now a days various TV programs are coming which are quit interesting and entertaining, it is the duty of the parents to first select the program weather it is good for the children or not and then allow them to watch.

girls watching TVTelevision is one of the most prevalent media influences in kids' lives. According to Kids' Take on Media, a survey conducted in 2003 by the Canadian Teachers’ Federation, watching TV is a daily pastime for 75 percent of Canadian children, both boys and girls from Grade 3 to Grade 10.

How much impact TV has on children depends on many factors: how much they watch, their age and personality, whether they watch alone or with adults, and whether their parents talk with them about what they see on TV.

To minimize the potential negative effects of television, it's important to understand what the impact of television can be on children. Below you will find information on some areas of concern.
