depakote at night better??

I have been taking 2 250 mg. depakote at night. In adding another 250, I added it in the a.m. I became very groggy in the afternoon. Will this grogginess go away if I take it all at night? Thanks in advance. (I am taking ER.)

It depends on individuals. Some takes all at night but others take it in divided doses.

But one thing is that if the dose was just increased, there is a good chance that the side effect (grogginess) might go away with time over next few days.

We usually suggest people to take medications for a few more days to see if the side effect goes away.
