My question is: Can Alcohol be Addictive?
If you drink alot of alchol, lets say, for example per day, can it be addictive?
I really want to know this, as its an interesting fact :)
Please reply as soon as possible :D

I would have to say, yes. Ofcourse it's addictive. We had this meeting thing at school and they were asking questions if we were to catigorize alchocol under drugs. I would say it could be like a drug, because you can get addicted to it and you can also die if you drink to much.

Well, there are very rare cases that you will die, but it weakens your liver...that might be why you die. Since your liver fails on you, and of course it is very important (your liver.)

Thank you for your reply :)

I think you know the answer yourself, as addiction to alcohol is the most common in the world. Yes, it is addictive and also most easily the worst cause of domestic violence.

I'm drinking alcohol once a week, and during the week I dont think about it, or even feel anything.
I dont know about drinking everyday, but it is probably very addictive.

Hi,
Yes it is very physically addictive after awhile. That is why they give drugs to alcoholics who are quitting, so they don't have seizures when they stop drinking...

Hello
Consuming too much alcohol is bad for your health and it can damage other areas in your life, too. You need to accept that first before you can go on controlling your drinking problems.

Any tips to control alcohol intake will not work if you do not have enough motivation to follow your goals through. To get you more motivated, know that once you are not under the power of alcohol anymore, your life will considerably improve. Your relationships will be a lot better. Your body will not go against you. All in all, you will become a better person inside and out.

Here then are some tips to control alcohol drinking that may benefit you. First, you require discipline. Then you have to understand your limits. Combine the two and you are on the right path! Discipline yourself to stick to your limits. Alcohol is alright, the body even needs it. It becomes a problem when you excessively drink it. So make sure not to drink more than you can handle. Getting drunk may be right while you are in the process of doing it but the effects are harmful and wide- ranging. It may help if you keep in mind that you’ll have a hangover the next day!

Ethanol, the primary psychoactive element in drinking alcohol, effects the brains reward center, leading to feelings of pleasure and calm when you drink.

As one continues to use alcohol, the receptors in the brain become desensitized, resulting in increased tolerance for ethanol.

As ethanol tolerance increases, dependent people must consume a higher amount of alcohol in order to achieve the same measure of relaxation and euphoria.

This is the recipe for alcoholism for those who fail to maintain self control.

Fortunately, alcohol is not a highly addictive drug, not like smoking for example. Few people ever actually get addicted to alcohol and entirely rely on it, but, there are some people for whom it is a very big problem.

How to identify if a person is addicted or not ?

# The person who is addicted to anything has tried to get out of that addiction but has failed to do so.

# The person's needs go on increasing! He gets engaged more in addictive behaviors or increases the degree of substance abuse. For example, he can start consuming alcohol to an increased extent just to enjoy that particular state of mind.

# The person is unable to meet the responsibilities of family members or to perform the household duties. He experiences problematic relationships with his friends, relatives and colleagues.
