I plan to go to a psychiatrist next week, but I wanted to get the opinion of some people who have actually had experience with some of these drugs. My regular doctor prescribed wellbutrin, but that seemed to make my symptoms worse. I have OCD tendencies. I obsessively grind my teeth and have sort of a nervous personality. I'm too sensitive for my own good and tend to shy away from social situations. I am easily irritated and often feel like an outcast. I want to feel free! but don't want to take a drug that is going to dumb me down. Please help.

FYI. I am a healthy adult, 30 years old, who exercises 4 times a week.

If you got OCD tendencies, fluoxetine (Prozac) might be good option.

Fluoxetine is also first line of antidepressants and it is called SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) and has been around for quite a few years.

Choosing an antidepressant is a very difficult decision, and, to be honest, we don't know much about the differences between one and another. This article that compares zoloft vs prozac (http://healthlifeandstuff.com/2009/09/zoloft-vs-prozac-side-effects-benefits/) says that Zoloft might be slightly more effective. Your mileage will definitely vary, of course.
