Hi there, I am female, thirty years old and suffer largley from hearing voices and some delusions centred around the voices I hear! I have been ill since my early 20's despite going untreated at university and passing an honours degree. Since that time I have been treated with sulpiride. This was a really effective medication for me and kept my symptoms under control to the point of being able to work as a pa for a fundraising director, buying my own house. Making normal friendships and having a normal boyfriend to whom I love and we are now engaged! Actually, hardly anyone I know actually knows I'm ill!! I hide my symptoms well when feeling bad and seem to only suffer very mildly most times... the problem is sulpiride has raised my prolactin levels ten times which causes negative effects so my psychiatrist has decided to try me out on aripirazole!! I would be really grateful for any advice as to how quickly this may take effect, whether it is 100% effective, what problems you may have encountered if any, what to expect whilst changing over and absolutely anything you think might be useful to know!! Thank you so much... I've been on this forum the past month only and have been able to relate to most experiences which I found very reassuring. What a hard life we live though I think my situation is better than most!
